My appeal to all Malaysians tonight

(JANGAN LUPA! SABTU HARI MENGUNDI!)
(UNDI PAS / UNDI BA)

Anwar Ibrahim The Voice of Democracy in Malaysia

Assalamualaikum WBT dan Salam Sejahtera,

Buat sekalian rakyat Malaysia,
harapan baru.jpg

Sdr/i sekalian,
Inflasi semakin menggila, gaji kian menyusut, akhirnya rakyat terus hidup melarat.

To my dear fellow Malaysians,

Assalamualaikum and salam sejahtera,

The moment of truth is upon us. The 8th of March 2008 is the pivotal moment of our time - when the people of Malaysia have a choice, between changing to a more wholesome, better Malaysia; or continuing to be trapped and shackled by 50 years of a chequered independence.

From day one, nomination day itself, fraud upon trick upon fraud has been the hallmark of Umno-BN, through their ever-willing puppet, the EC. The introduction of stamp duties, followed by its abrupt abolition; uneven campaigns, gangster-like threats towards opposition candidates; the EC's admission that there are apparent 8, 666 votes above 100 years of age; un-secret postal votes; and the icing on the cake - the abolition of the use of indelible ink on the grounds of 'public safety'.

These absurd frauds are clearly desperate attempts to maintain the rule of Umno-BN, even as they quake in fear, seeing the readiness of the people to shout out their dissatisfaction across the length and breadth of the country. But what is truly sad is that it seems, from this endless series of trickery, that in the eyes of Umno-BN, the people of Malaysia are so easily manipulated and fooled with impunity.

That is what Umno-BN wants - for the people to shift their attention away from them, into a morass of deceptionand misplaced distrust. Dirty tactics are the order of the day, including the 'import' of phantom voters in certain areas, including Kelantan, Terengganu and not forgetting Pekan, Pahang. The opposition is blasted daily in the mainstream media, with barely an opportunity to respond to the allegations. My own self, supposedly 'irrelevant' in the arena of Malaysian politics, has been attacked mercilessly day in and day out with an array of libelous accusations. Ironically though, thousands seem to flock to my rallies without ever needing the sops of money or 'entertainment' .

From North to South, I am glad to say that we have made the best out of our 13 days of opportunity. Alhamdulillah, I have been privileged enough to witness the people of Malaysia rise up across the country. Far from being a marginal struggle, this is a struggle for all our people, who have long wished to free themselves from the tyranny of UMNO-BN! The response given to our KeADILan candidates, as well as our comrades from PAS and DAP, has been nothing short of phenomenal, while Umno-BN looks increasingly desperate by the day. Even with their complete control of the mainstream media, they continue to be on the defensive - rather than engage with our manifestos, they have only managed to attack us blindly, stabbing in the dark with no real rhyme or reason.

My dear brothers and sisters,

Each and every Malaysian has the right to an opportunity for a better life. Malaysia has tremendous potential, but it has been worn down and suppressed by the vile political games of Umno-BN, who continue to poison our minds and bind our potential with narrow racial sentiments and the all-destroying ooze of corruption. The judiciary has become the marketplace of gambling kings; crime is endemic, with rape, snatch theft and murder all on the rise. The police have been taken away from their positions as guardians of public safety, and shunted instead to the useless surveillance of opposition figures. Inflation is spiraling out of control, even as wages shrink; and the people just keep on suffering. And what does BN tell us? That we should be thankful for what we have.

What you need to do on the 8th of March 2008 is to have the courage to change. KeADILan's commitment is clear. The victory that you grant to us will translate into reduced petrol prices, a lid on inflation, a more sustained and credible effort at tackling crime, free education flexible for all; and a government that is fair and just to all its people, regardles of race and religion..

KeADILan has given you a Manifesto titled A New Hope for Malaysia, which strikes at the heart of the basic problems that the average Malaysian faces today, and offers you solutions for tomorrow. The hope that KeADILan promises shall be realised by each and every one of our candidates, coming as they do to you from all sorts of different backgrounds, united by their shared calibre and credibility of the very highest degree.

KeADILan, PAS and DAP have played their roles in saving Malaysia from its current course of self-destruction, fanned by the greed and lust of the Umno-BN leadership and the gamblers of the nation's future. Now, it is your time to make a choice. All our hopes and dreams for the nation are now but a step away from being realised - it is in your hands, as a citizen of Malaysia, endowed with dignity and the freedom of choice.

I firmly believe that the people of Malaysia are a mature and wise people, and I am confident that that wisdom will be translated into votes for KeADILan, PAS and DAP come this 8th of March 2008, in the name of saving our beloved Malaysia.

It is now time for Malaysia to tread the path towards a new future, armed with a New Hope, great and bright in its promise of glory. The choice is in your hands. And in God we trust.

I wish you all the best, in exercising your responsibility as a people of dignity and honour as Malaysians tomorrow.

Polis Bohong dan SPR Tipu / Pengundi klon jangan jadi pengkhianat Islam

(JANGAN LUPA! SABTU HARI MENGUNDI!)
(UNDI PAS / UNDI BA)

BERSIH

Polis Bohong dan SPR Tipu

Kenyataan Media
Pegawai tertinggi polis berbohong dan Pengerusi SPR menipu berhubung pembatalan sistem calit jari dengan
dakwat selepas mengundi.

jari pegundi sebelum mereka membuang undi.
membenarkan jari mereka dicalit.

Pengerusi SPR menerima saranan polis itu tanpa soal. Beliau menambah pula alasan lain. Kononnya sistem

pengundi-pengundi hantu semasa pilihanraya.

Pengundi klon jangan jadi pengkhianat Islam

- mj

Khairy 'penakut' semuka dengan Badrul Hisham / DAP accuses BN of playing fear tactic

(JANGAN LUPA! SABTU HARI MENGUNDI!)
(UNDI PAS / UNDI BA)

DAP accuses BN of playing fear tactic
A new array of weapons have appeared mysteriously in Penang, aimed at shooting down the onslaught of DAP, in the form banners warning the voters that they risk losing a Chinese chief minister if the vote for the opposition party.

About 2,000 banners were put up overnight yesterday around the town of Bagan, the parliamentary constituency where DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng is expected to win.

dap fear tactic pc 070308 bannerThe banners are easily spotted along the roads when Malaysiakini visited the area this afternoon but unlike other campaigning materials, there was no party logo printed on them.

In a press conference this afternoon, Lim condemned the act as an attempt of “fear tactics” and said he has reasons to believe that the BN was behind the act.

“I suspect they are done by BN supporters because only they have the financial resources to do so and put up 2,000 banners overnight,” he said.

Apart from that, the DAP leader also revealed another 'fear tactic' where voters in Bagan have received five-page anonymous leaflets last night telling them voting for opposition would cause the Chinese to lag behind.

dap fear tactic pc 070308 pcOne of the leaflets 'explained' that this is because the Chinese community's rights will be taken away when Umno has more say over the Chinese-based BN component parties.

It also attached a newspaper cutting which quoted DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang as praising PAS is just and democratic.

Meanwhile, another billboard was enacted at Paya Terubong on the island, stating that ‘Voting DAP is voting for PAS and theocratic Islamic state’.

Given the majority of Penangites’ sentiment to keep a chief minister from the Chinese community, BN leaders have repeatedly warned voters they may lose a Chinese chief minister if they vote for the opposition.

BN under pressures in 10 seats

BN chairperson Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was the latest to issue that warning when he told a gathering on Wednesday night that the Chinese community “suffers” every time when DAP wins big in the general election.

Other BN leaders have gone on a campaign to tell the voters should they vote for the oppositions, it will weaken the Chinese community representation by MCA and Gerakan in the government.

On the other hand, the opposition have argued that voting for the two Chinese-based ruling parties will help to strengthen Umno’s dominance in the state.

The BN’s fear of a DAP advance in the state is evident in the wake of an admission by the outgoing Penang Chief Minister and Gerakan acting president Dr Koh Tsu Koon today that the BN was facing tremendous pressure from the opposition in 10 state seats in Penang.

This also correlated with the prediction that the opposition will take up eight more new state seats in this election, in addition to two they are holding at present.

If these projections are realised, MCA will be the biggest loser as its candidates are contesting in five of the ‘black’ seats for the BN, compared to Gerakan (two), MIC (two) and Umno (one).

In the opposition ranks, the biggest gainer will be DAP (contesting in eight), PKR (one) and PAS (one).

Even if they win the 10 seats, the opposition parties will still fall short of denying BN a two-thirds majority, let alone meeting their target of forming the next state government - the twin objectives of their campaign.

The arrival of ‘phantom’ voters?

Meanwhile, PKR president and Permatang Pauh candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has expressed her concern over buses ferrying BN supporters into her constituency last night.

pkr manifesto launch pc 260208 wan azizahAccording to her, about 10 buses have accompanied Abdullah at a function in Penanti, one of the three state seats under Permatang Pauh last night.

She questioned the timing of the buses coming in at this juncture as they could be ‘phantom’ voters, referring to individuals who are not eligible to vote but posing as voters.

“We can’t discount the fact on that as we don’t know whether they are still here or they have left,” Wan Azizah said when contacted this afternoon.

An eyewitness put the figure of the buses between seven and eight, and claimed the passengers appeared to be outsiders.

Two-term MP Wan Azizah retained the Permatang Pauh seat in the last election by a slim 590-majority votes.

She is expected to retain the seat as she may continue to gain sympathy votes from women voters who make up 51 percent of the electorate in Permatang Pauh. The ground sentiment also favours her.

However, she will have to contend with the increase of some 4,000 new voters. In the run-up to the polls, she has complained about thousands of suspicious voters without complete address.

Israel Continues Gaza Killing Spree

Israel Continues Gaza Killing Spree

Image
Ten Palestinians were killed on Sunday as Israel continued its air and ground blitz against the Gaza Strip.
GAZA CITY — Emboldened by a mild international and Arab reaction, Israeli occupation forces killed ten Palestinians on Sunday, March 2, in its continued air and ground blitz against the Gaza Strip.

Three people were killed in an Israeli strike on Jabaliya, which has borne the brunt of the Israeli blitz, according to IslamOnline. net's correspondent.

One Palestinian also died inside his Jabaliya home from Israeli gunfire.
An Israeli aircraft fired at a civilian vehicle in a residential neighborhood of Jabaliya, killing Khalil Ezz el-Dine.

Another targeted a mosque in Rafah claiming the lives of 21-month-old baby girl Safaa Abou Youssef, Wessam Abd Rabbu, Emmad el-Talaa and Sobhi Abdullah.

Khaled Monzer Rayyan, a Hamas fighter, succumbed to wounds he suffered in Saturday's fighting.

At least 67 Palestinians, including scores of women and children, were killed on Saturday, March 1.
Sunday's fatalities take to at least 115 the number of Palestinians, third of them children, killed in four days of Israeli raids and air strikes in the Gaza Strip.

While innocent civilians continued to fall, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert remained defiant.

"It must be clear that Israel has no intention to stop for one moment the fight against terror organizations, " he told the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday.

Olmert adamantly brushed off criticism that the blitz is using excessive force in the densely packed territory.
Palestinians lament the sepulchral silence of the international community while they are being slaughtered by Israel.

Under the yoke of an American veto threat, the UN Security Council has failed, again, Saturday to issue a resolution condemning Israel's aggression on Gaza civilians.

Unity
Protesting the Israeli offensive, Palestinian President Mahmoud suspended all contacts with Israel.

"The negotiations are suspended, as are all contacts on all levels, because in light of the Israeli aggression such communication has no meaning," his spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina said in a statement.

Abbas ordered the negotiating team to suspend all contacts with Israel until the aggression stops.

"The Israeli government has decided to prosecute an unjust war and the open slaughter of our people. It bears sole responsibility for the hindering the peace process and all the effects and consequences of this decision."
Thousands of Palestinians swarmed onto streets across the occupied West Bank on Sunday to protest the Israeli offensive.

They appealed for national unity between rival Fatah and Hamas.

In the biggest gathering, around 4,000 people took to the streets in the northern town of Nablus demanding national unity.

Around 2,000 people in Ramallah also demonstrated waving both Hamas and Fatah flags and calling for unity.
Abbas's Fatah and rival Hamas shared power in a unity government for three months last year.

The rift widened last June after Abbas sacked the government, headed by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, after Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip.

The West Bank demonstration turned bloody after Israeli occupation forces opened fire, wounding more than 70 protestors.

Mahmoud al-Musalmi, 13, breathed his last in the southern town of Al-Khalil after Israeli soldiers shot him.

UNITED NATIONS — Under the yoke of an American veto threat, the UN Security Council has failed, again, to issue a resolution condemning an Israeli aggression on innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, which this time claimed 67 lives in one single day.

"Council members are deeply concerned about the loss of civilian life in southern Israel and Gaza and condemn the escalation of violence that has taken place," the Council said in a statement cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Russia's UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, the council chair this month, said members "underscore the need for all parties to immediately cease all acts of violence."

After nearly five hours of hard-nosed consultations, the Security Council failed to adopt a resolution condemning Israel.

At least 67 Palestinians, including many women and children, were killed on Saturday, March 1, in an Israeli land and air blitz against the sealed off Gaza Strip.

The fatalities took to at least 105 the number of Palestinians, third of them children, killed in four days of Israeli raids and air strikes in the Gaza Strip.

Libya, the lone Arab member on the 15-member council, circulated a draft resolution that "strongly condemns the killing of innocent civilians, including children" by Israeli forces.

The text also called for "an immediate cessation of all acts of violence, including military attacks and the firing of rockets, and calls upon all parties to respect the ceasefire."

The US refused to accept language on Israel's actions.

"There is a clear distinction between terrorist rocket attacks that target civilians and action in self-defense, " White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said.

Last January, Washington effectively blocked the adoption of a council statement that would have urged an end to Israel's siege of the Gaza Strip and to rocket firing into Israel.

It claimed Israel was merely exercising its right of self defense in response to the constant rocket firing from Gaza.

License to Kill
Ban drew Arab irk after describing the Palestinian rocket attacks as terrorist
UN chief Ban Ki-moon drew the irk of Arab diplomats after describing the Palestinian rocket attacks as terrorist.

Reaffirming Israel's right to defend itself, Ban slammed its "disproportionate and excessive use of force" that has killed and injured so many civilians, including children.

But when it came to Palestinian attacks, the UN chief was more clear.
"I condemn Palestinian rocket attacks and call for the immediate cessation of such acts of terrorism, which serve no purpose, endanger civilians and bring misery to the Palestinian people."

He was immediately rebuked by several Arab diplomats who objected to his characterization.

Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal insisted on Saturday that rocket attacks are the result not the cause of Israeli aggressions.

"They [Israelis] do not want to end the occupation, stop attacks or lift the siege. What do people expect the Palestinians to do," he told reporters.

He reminded the international community that Hamas committed itself to past truces in 2003, 2005 and 2006, but Israel never stopped killing Palestinians.

"We tell all Arab and European officials that whosoever can secure an Israeli commitment to halt aggressions in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, Hamas stands ready to deal with this seriously and stop (firing rocket)."
Palestinian UN observer Ryad Mansour chided the Security Council for its "wholly unjustifiable and unacceptable" inaction.

"The lack of action and lack of accountability have only led, time after time, to the perpetration of even more war crimes (by Israel) with impunity against innocent civilians, as evidenced by the tragic and violent events of today and the past week."

Proving the point, emboldened Israeli Premier Ehud Olmert stressed on Sunday that Israel had no intention of stopping its deadly assault on Gaza.

New Israeli strikes killed five Palestinians in the north of the Gaza Strip early today.
Sunday's deaths bring to 6,262 the number of people killed since the outbreak of Al-Aqsa Intifadah in September 2000, the vast majority of them Palestinians, according to an AFP tally.
