BMI backs George Galloway for the Greater London Assembly

BMI backs George Galloway for the Greater London Assembly

Following George Galloway's momentous gesture in refusing to stand against Ken Livingstone in the elections for the Mayor of London, realising the risks that all Londoners face should Boris Johnson and the right-wing element take over City Hall, British Muslim Initiative has announced that it will be backing George Galloway and his RESPECT party for the GLA elections to be held on the 1st of May.

George Galloway's unwavering stands on issues that are close and dear to the hearts of not only Muslims, but all peace-seeking citizens of London and the entire country, despite the harm and to himself and his career that has come as a result, makes him a natural choice for BMI and all those supporting its campaign to mobilise the Muslim community in the coming elections.

Mohammed Sawalha, President of BMI stated last night: "George Galloway is one of the very few remaining principled politicians who follow their beliefs rather than the official party line, this country has to show, and we are proud to stand by him in his campaign to become member of the GLA. "His standing aside in the Mayoral elections in favour of Ken Livingstone despite their well known differences, in order to ensure that the Boris Johnson and his right-wing friends do not take over City Hall, is an histories gesture seldom seen in today's selfish, self-serving and hypocrisy-riddled political world".

British Muslim Initiative calls on all London's Muslims to vote for George Galloway and RESEPECT in the Greater London Assembly Elections on the 1st of May.
